I woke up this morning at 4:30 AM much like most mornings with only one exception, this morning I woke up before my alarm went off.  I woke up with a sense of expectancy, a sense of urgency, a sense of excitement… kind of like a football player before draft night.  Why? you may be asking.  Simple, today I walk into my job of over 7 years, a job that I enjoy doing, I job that has paid me very well, a job that became a career, a job that has both enriched my life and given me a business education you cannot learn in college.  Okay, you may be a little confused now.  You see although I enjoy my job, I am good at my job and I am grateful for my job…  I have been offered a better job… a better position… The job of a lifetime!!!  And today I am saying goodbye to my old job and career so that I can take this new job. What is that job?

Well, before I tell you.  Allow me to articulate something that you may relate to.

  • Have you ever felt out of place?
  • Have you ever felt like you are spinning in circles?
  • Like you are not getting ahead in life?
  • Have you ever felt like you are missing out on something and don't know exactly what it is?
  • Feel like you are running a rat race?
  • In debt with bills, credit cards and student loans and don’t know where that money and investment went?
  • Have you ever felt like something was missing?

I have felt all of the above and I could not find the answer anywhere.  I researched and researched.  I read books and asked experts.  Until I asked God directly for my answer and one day as I looked in the bible and read the following words in the book of Jeremiah 29:10-11 NLT, it all made sense!!!

This is what the lord says: “You will be in Babylon for seventy years. But then I will come and do for you all the good things I have promised, and I will bring you home again. For I know the plans I have for you,” says the lord. “They are plans for good and not for disaster, to give you a future and a hope.

Just like myself, many of us are living lives that go unfulfilled, that are empty, that seem like they are meaningless.  The truth is you were all created by the divine hand of God and in your soul was given a purpose… That purpose is His Plans for you, they are plans for good and it brings forth a future and hope!!!

So today I walk away from the security and comfort of living in the unfulfilled yet accommodating life as a career man and I have accepted the job that God recruited me for, Lead Pastor of UNION Houston.

March 1st, 2016 is my first day on the job and I feel like Michael Jordan when he first suited up in a Bulls uniform, I feel like Mike Tyson when he first strapped on that Heavyweight Championship belt on or better yet I feel like Michael Jackson when he was crowned the King of Pop.

My hope and prayer are that if you read this, that my words and my actions help you find your God-given purpose because I promise you there is no other feeling like it.  The peace and security you feel when you are pursuing God this way are indescribable and unforgettable!!!

My desire is that I may be able to serve and help you if you do struggle with those feelings.  That I may be able to lead and pastor a church that goes from mundane existence to vibrant significance.

In the next few days, you will start to hear more and more about God’s plans for the city of Houston and I encourage you to pray for us and for the people of Houston.

I love you guys and look forward to hearing from you.  If you would like to know more about how to connect and get involved simply email me @ revrod@unionhouston.com
